Livestock Environment

PigletsOur research goals are to develop environmental control systems and strategies for livestock and poultry systems. Livestock are important in Minnesota. Major areas of research include odor monitoring, control, and dispersion modeling; ventilating systems monitoring and modeling; and air quality monitoring.

Current projects include an odor rating system and farmstead odor measurement; low-cost biofilters; sprinkling vegetable oil for dust and odor control; environmental monitoring in naturally ventilated dairy facilities; and enhancing indoor environmental control.
