  • Utilization of renewable resources for composites, including hot-pressed composites, biofiber- and wood-plastic composites, and nanocomposites
  • Characterization and modification of adhesion and interphase in composites
  • Application of nanotechnology for enhancing the properties of wood and biofibers
  • Extraction of plant cell-wall components for materials application
  • Structural, mechanical, and chemical imaging of materials to discern the contributions of micron- and submicron-scale properties to material performance
