Areas of Interest
My ongoing area of primary interest and activity continues
to be wood/moisture relations. The emphasis is upon how the
processing and in-use performance of solid wood products
is affected by the level of initial moisture content and
changes thereafter. A current focus is commercialization
of a restraint system developed in Kaufert Laboratory that
has proved to greatly reduce warp in the kilndrying of softwood
framing lumber.
