Simulating Drainage Hydrology at the Field Scale in Northwest Minnesota

Objective

Conduct field-scale modeling with DRAINMOD on soils and crops of northwest Minnesota to discern the hydrologic impacts of the practice.

Need or Impact

Subsurface drainage is finding increased adoption rates in northwest Minnesota, but policy makers are uncertain about the hydrologic impacts and ramifications in the basin. This project seeks to clarify the field-scale hydrologic impacts of surface and subsurface drainage practices.
