Geotextile Covers to Reduce Odor and Gas Emissions from Swine Manure Storage Ponds

Objective

The objective of this study was to measure the effect of a geotextile cover on the emission of odor, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), ammonia (NH3), and volatile organic compounds (VOC) from manure storage ponds.

Need or Impact

This research project (MIN-12-062) seeks to assess the impact of manure on water and air quality through various sub-projects, and to develop processes and techniques to reduce adverse impacts and maximize the benefits from manure.
