Charles and Janet Otis ScholarshipA new department scholarship has been established in the name of Charles and Janet Otis. Charles K. Otis, a faculty member from 1936 to 1966, received his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin and his M.S. from the University of Minnesota. He taught and conducted research in the area of farm building design. He also was well known for his research on silos and their contents. Charles Otis died suddenly, in the prime of his career, on June 10, 1966. His widow, Mrs. Janet Otis, established a scholarship in his name. Following her death in 2000, the family created the Charles and Janet Otis Scholarship to recognize both of their contributions to the department and profession. The first Charles and Janet Otis Scholarship, in the amount of $1500, was awarded to Aaron Peter, a senior from Elmore, Minnesota, this fall.
