Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering (BBE) has historically been strongly supported by alumni, industry and other stakeholders We thank them for their generous contributions and support.

We are proudly celebrating our centennial this year (1909-2009) – 100 years of excellence in education, research and Extension. This is a great opportunity for you to make a gift that will help enrich our programs, create new opportunities for our students and faculty, and work toward achieving our vision.

We focus our departmental gifts in these areas:

  • Undergraduate Scholarships: Our department currently has 155 undergraduate students and 50 of them received a scholarship this year. Generous support from our donors has allowed us to attract and retain the best and the brightest students. For a list of our scholarship funds, click here.

  • Graduate Fellowships: Our faculty, students and staff are actively engaged in cutting-edge research advancing the frontiers of sustainable use of renewable resources and environmental sustainability. A contribution to graduate fellowships will help us continue to maintain our strength in conducting research and provide the stability and continuity.

  • Building Remodeling: Internationally recognized, cutting edge research and education in the 21st century requires top notch facilities and equipment. This requires substantial investments to augment and upgrade existing facilities and equipment to fulfill the aims of our strategic plan and to most effectively serve the state and institution in advancing the forefront of a renewable bioeconomy and environmental sustainability. The historic Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) building built in 1913 (Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering department’s south building (BBE south), located on 1390 Eckles Avenue in the heart of Saint Paul campus, is slated for a complete renovation and remodeling to create a brand new state-of-the-art facility that will address growing educational and research needs focused on the sustainable use of renewable resources and enhancement of the environment. Remodeling the historic BAE building in the heart of St. Paul campus is one of the priorities for the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) capital planning initiative and is expected to be in the 2010 capital bonding request. Contributions from donors, including possible naming rights, will significantly help advance this cause and make this dream a reality.

  • Endowed Professorships: In an environment of declining state support, named endowed professorships would ensure a continuation of our long lasting legacy of exceptional teaching, research and Extension. Endowed professorships can be tailored and matched with the research, teaching and Extension and outreach interests, vision and passions of the donor.
